We are winners of the Award deutscher Kita-Preis ("German Award for Daycare Centers") 2020! - WABE

As of June 16, 2020, we are among the award winners of the award Deutscher Kita-Preis (“German Award for Daycare Centers”) 2020 in the category “Kita of the Year”. In a selection process lasting several months, our daycare center in Lauenburg prevailed against 1,500 applicants. In a digital award ceremony hosted by the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Dr. Franziska Giffey, and the patron of the German Children and Youth Foundation, Elke Büdenbender, our facility was awarded 10,000 euros. The trophy will be presented to us personally by Dr. Franziska Giffey on October 1 at the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs in Berlin! In the next few weeks, there will also be a regional award ceremony at our facility. The short film below shows what makes our daycare center so special.

The award honors exemplary commitment of daycare centers and local alliances for early education. It was given to facilities that continuously work on the quality of early education in their immediate environment, placing the children’s perspective at the center of their efforts. In addition, opportunities for participation by children and parents as well as cooperation with local partners played an important role in the selection of the award winners.

The award is a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the German Children and Youth Foundation in partnership with the Heinz and Heide Dürr Foundation, the Gisela-Sdorra Foundation, the Karg Foundation, Eltern-Magazin and the Didacta Association. The award provides impetus for quality in early childhood education and recognizes the commitment of people who demonstrate day in and day out in daycare centers how good quality can be achieved locally.
