“Do School Differently” is the motto of our international school in Pinneberg. School operations on our WABE International School for the Hamburg metropolitan region started at the beginning of September 2016. Our international school is a state-approved alternative school and is located in Schleswig-Holstein. It is a recognized IB World School and offers space for up to 300 students in the current expansion phase.

Multilingualism (D/E), immersive language approach with “native speakers”
The WABE International School offers an innovative concept from grades 1 to 12 with the International Baccalaureate (IB) as a degree. The main language of instruction is English. With a German program, the school ensures that students learn at native-speaker level. The first IB graduating class was bid farewell at the end of May 2021.
Inquiry-based and experiential learning are essential elements of the pedagogical program and are meaningfully integrated into the curriculum.
The target group of the school are both international and German families from the metropolitan region of Hamburg, whose children want to learn according to an international school concept.
The school is characterized by a cosmopolitan atmosphere. International and local schoolchildren find an intensive exchange and a learning-conducive togetherness through a pronounced welcoming culture.
Due to its international orientation, the ISC represents a supplement and enrichment of the existing school landscape in the Pinneberg district.
The students from all over the world will find a second home in the upcoming WABE boarding school.
They live in small groups together with boarding school mentors who are always there for them. Our premises are modern and of high quality. We offer comfortable rooms, full board, supervision and help with homework.
During the week, they eat breakfast and lunch with the day students to ensure good integration into the school community. Dinner and meals at the weekend take place in the residential groups together with the mentors. In the kitchens of the living areas, the students can also prepare their own meals at any time.
In the afternoon, they have a diverse extracurricular program of sport, art, music and culture at their disposal, from which they can freely choose. At the weekends, trips to Hamburg to see musicals, museums, theatres, cinemas or exhibitions and much more are offered.
Supervision and organization of coexistence
The boarding school mentors also accompany the students’ learning time and are in contact with the teachers. The students have a variety of opportunities to participate and elect representatives who regularly exchange ideas with the boarding school management in order to implement the wishes and suggestions of the students.
