At the beginning of the 2022/23 school year, WABE eV started cooperation with the Am Schloss primary school in Ahrensburg as part of the open all-day school (OGS). As the provider, we take over the all-day and childcare offers in the primary school.

With the open all-day school, we expand the educational and learning opportunities for schoolchildren, as the concept enables a meaningful combination of school education in the morning with supplementary, in-depth and development-promoting offers in the afternoon. Access to play, leisure and cultural activities in the student’s living environment creates a wide range of additional fields of learning and contacts that strengthen the development of self-reliant and self-confident personalities.

With the offer of the open all-day school, we support parents and legal guardians in being able to meet the growing professional and social demands. Balancing family and work poses a major challenge for many working parents. We offer them reliable and high-quality care for children of primary school age through the OGS in the afternoon.

Early Morning Care at ”
” The “Am Schloss” After-School Care Center offers early morning care from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Early care is the responsibility of WABE eV. Please indicate your need for this on the service agreement (Annex 1).

Arrival and lessons The lessons take place in the following periods:

8:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. for the 1. + 2nd classes
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the 3. + 4th grades

Once a week find in the 4th or 5th hour support and challenge courses take place:

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the 1. + 2nd classes
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the 3. + 4th grades

Mandatory OGS Supervision Hours
Following the end of classes, the mandatory social-educational supervision period begins for all students participating in the OGS program. During this time, children can eat lunch, do their homework, and participate in recreational and free-play activities.
Between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., club activities (information on these will be provided separately) as well as ongoing, freely selectable open activities take place. The exact overview of the AGs and the open offers will be provided as part of the assumption of sponsorship on August 1st, 2022.

Pickup times
The pickup times have been agreed upon with you in writing. Since groups and open offers take place from 2:00 p.m. and we want to guarantee the children a trouble-free process, we ask you to pick the children up on the hour. Of course, exceptions such as doctor visits and private appointments are possible. In these cases, please inform the OGS in good time.

After-School Care
The OGS Am Schoss offers after-school care from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please indicate your need for this on the service agreement.

Ferienbetreuung
Eine Ferienbetreuung an der OGS Am Schloss findet in den vertraglich vereinbarten Betreuungszeiten statt. Before the holidays, WABE e. V. a written requirement inquiry in good time. The holiday care offers a wide range of educational offers, holiday projects and excursions.

Closing times
We have a total of 20 days of company holidays. These are divided into: 10 days in the summer holidays, 5 days in the autumn holidays and 5 days at the end of December. We will inform you of the exact closing times with the registration documents. You can also find it here under “Information for Parents.”

When do I need to register my child for the OGS?
If your child is scheduled to start first grade in the 2025/26 school year, you can register via our website.
If your child is already attending elementary school, you will receive the registration and contract documents from the OGS administration office.

How is my registration confirmed?
You will receive the signed contract documents by post.

How do I get a subsidy towards childcare costs or lunch?
If you receive unemployment benefit I or II, social benefit, social assistance or basic security, please be sure to send us all proof of this in copy with the application. Families entitled to support under the Education and Participation Act, please submit a current decision from the job center.

Is there a sibling discount/sibling discount?
If a sibling is already being cared for in the OGS for a fee (at least 10 hours), please tick this on the service agreement. In this case, you will receive a reduction in the care fee for the younger child directly from WABE e. V. If there are siblings in day-care centers in Ahrensburg, you can apply to the city of Ahrensburg for a subsidy to cover the childcare costs.

What is the difference between an AG and an open offer?
At the beginning of each 1st and des In the second half of the year, the children can choose from a range of offers. You can try out the first two weeks of the AGs, after which they are binding and participation is mandatory (for the half-year). Students can also attend after-school clubs beyond the scheduled supervision hours.
Our open activities, on the other hand, can be chosen freely each day and are tailored to the children’s needs. These can be visited during the booked care times.

When can I pick up my child from OGS?
The care times are contractually agreed with you. Please understand that flexible pickup is not possible during childcare hours. After class, the children go to lunch, do their homework and take part in open activities or groups from 2 p.m. In order to be able to guarantee a trouble-free process here, we therefore ask you to pick up the children on the hour. Of course, exceptions such as doctor visits and private appointments are possible. In these cases, please inform the OGS in good time.
