here we inform you about new relevant developments regarding our child care services.
As a result of the Senate's decision of March 19 2020, all Hamburg daycare centers and schools will cease regular operations by April 19. This also applies to all Hamburg childcare facilities of WABE e.V. The aim of this measure is to further contain the chain of infection of the corona virus. (see here: https://www.hamburg.de/allgemeinverfuegungen/13746124/general-decree-20-march-2020/ (Status: 20.03.2020)
For this reason, parents are urgently requested to take care of their children at home until 19 April 2020. However, parents should refrain from looking after their children at the home of their grandparents or other persons belonging to the risk group to protect these persons.
For parents who are absolutely dependent on the care of their children, daycare centres will remain open. Care is thus available primarily to persons whose work is important for the provision of basic services and the maintenance of the infrastructure. It is ultimately up to the parents to decide whether there is an urgent need for care. (Status: 19.03.2020)
Parental contributions Hamburg
These restrictions are necessary and we are aware that they represent an exceptional situation for all of us. In order to relieve the burden on your families, WABE e.V. will follow the request of the Hamburg Senate and refund the parents' contributions proportionately for the period from 16 March to 19 April 2020. We are in exchange with the responsible Hamburg authorities for a regulation going beyond this. (Status: 25.03.2020)

On 19 March 2020, Schleswig-Holstein also decided to continue to suspend teaching in schools and day-care centres. For day-care centres (including crèches) and corresponding school-based childcare services such as open all-day schools, there are bans on entering children.
Here too, emergency care is provided for children of workers in areas of critical infrastructure (the groups of persons are defined here). This applies for the time being until 19 April 2020 (as of 19.03.2020)
Schleswig-Holstein These restrictions are necessary and we are aware that they represent an exceptional situation for all of us. In order to relieve the burden on families, a meeting of the Schleswig-Holstein cabinet decided on 21 March 2020 to make 50 million Euros available for the reimbursement of parental contributions as a result of the currently suspended care in day-care facilities and child day-care centres. The Ministry of Social Affairs will now enter into talks with the local authorities and discuss how a practicable way to implement both measures can be designed: https://www.schleswig-holstein.de/DE/Landesregierung/I/Presse/PI/2020/MP/200323_Kitareform.html (German only, Status: 23.03.2020)
